Exploitation of non-human animals stands in contradiction with the core values of a caring and sustainable lifestyle. A carnivore society is destructive for animals and damaging for ecosystems. Considering animals’ capacity to feel pain and pleasure, as well as each animal’s intrinsic worth, their use by humans also raises many ethical questions.
In order to build a just and peaceful future for all, it is urgent to re-examine and change our individual and collective behavior towards animals. Therefore CELL (www.cell.lu) launched a new action group dedicated to animal rights.
This website is dedicated to increase the visibility of the animal rights movement in Luxembourg, give an introduction to the theory of the contemporary animal rights movement and the current ethical challenges, and follow the latest research on the intrinsic capacities of animals which, in our society, determine their moral status.
