Third vigil in Ettelbruck
Luxembourg Animal Save organized its third vigil at the slaughterhouse in Ettelbruck on 27 September 2018.
“We were present from 5 am to 7 am and witnessed the arrival of cars with small trailers, tractors with big trailers, a truck with cows, and a tractor with a 3-level-trailer full of pigs.
The saddest thing: no one stopped. They even went by too fast, even though there is a sign that clearly indicates 5 kmph as maximum speed. We weren´t allowed to stop the vehicles. We couldn´t do what we intended to do: comfort the animals for two minutes and show them some kindness and respect before they were going to be killed.
Suddenly, the police showed up. Apparently the people at the slaughterhouse didn´t know that we had a permission. We had a nice friendly chat with the officers to whom we could explain our love-based activism and that we´re only here for the animals and don´t mean to cause any trouble or have any negative feelings against the owners, the workers or the drivers.
At the end of the vigil, we saw reddish smoke coming out of the slaughterhouse – it was terrifying…
We cannot thank enough all the brave activists who showed up to stand united for the animals.”
